Thanks so much for checking out this year-end edition of the Banding Bulletin! We wanted to use this opportunity to announce some exciting developments at CRH, take a sneak peek into 2024, and of course, to pass along our holiday good wishes!
We are very grateful that the demand for our training and support programs continues to grow, so CRH is in the process of expanding our clinical resources! Laura Galarza (Clinical Support Specialist), Andy Gorchynsky (MD – surgeon) and I are all very excited to introduce two new members of our clinical team!
Tomasz is an incredibly talented surgeon, most recently serving as chief, professor, and director of the Transplant Institute at the University of Oklahoma. His training included programs at the Medical University of Warsaw, the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Massachusetts General Hospital, SUNY at Stony Brook and Johns Hopkins, and his CV includes a very large number of clinical trials and publications, far too numerous to list here. Tomasz is a great guy as well, and we know that you will enjoy working with him!
Tomasz lives in North Carolina, and so will be most active in the Atlantic and Southeastern states, but based on the demands of our training calendar, you may well get the chance to work with him nearly anywhere in the country. He will join our traveling crew early in the new year.
Welcome, Tomasz!
Some of you may have already met Andrea. While I have to admit that it is a bit annoying to me that she has many more letters after her name than I do, she is a great training resource and a pleasure to work with! Andrea is an active bander in her own clinic in the San Francisco Bay area, and has a ton of experience to share with you. She has joined us as a Clinical Support Specialist and will be providing support in follow-up sessions and refreshers, primarily in the West.
Welcome, Andrea!
CRH started in-person training in hemorrhoid banding and perianal care way back in 2008, and we’re constantly working to improve our training sessions and expand access to CRH’s support. Scheduling has been our most recent challenge, and we’ve responded by adding to our clinical team. Our hope is to be able to offer greater flexibility of available training dates in the new year, so that we can get you up and running with the techniques as soon as possible. Initial training sessions feature a visit from one of our surgeons, who will give a didactic presentation covering a host of anorectal issues that you may well see in clinic, followed by a hands-on banding session, where you will start treating patients that you’ve gathered for the session. Our surgeon will assure that everything is done correctly, and provide whatever support is required.
Two to three weeks later, one of our Clinical Support Specialists typically will visit to assist with another round of banding, helping to reinforce the principles discussed at the time of your initial training. We have been working with physicians for more than 15 years, and in recent years, we’ve been working with an increasing number of APPs. We have found that interested and engaged NPs and PAs are able to provide fantastic care to their patients, and we’re here to help!
For those of you who might like to brush up on their clinical techniques, we offer on-site “refresher” sessions as well! Depending on your needs, we can have one of our surgeons or Clinical Support Specialists visit and get you ready to fire back up this part of your practice. If interested in any of the above, please contact ME at your convenience.
During the COVID shutdowns, we had fairly frequent webinars scheduled, which were very successful in presenting FAQs, addressing participants’ questions, and, in some cases, even demonstrating maneuvers that have proven to be so helpful to our partners. The new year and our added training capacity will allow for us to restart these informational webinars. Please stay tuned for announcements of these events – we’ll look forward to “seeing” as many of you as is possible!
While we have all of the support listed above, we want to make sure that everyone understands that, should questions ever arise, you do not need to wait for the next visit or webinar. Please feel free to email/text/call any of us at your convenience. Generally speaking, if we’re not on a plane or in the middle of a training session, we’re available!
