CRH BandWagon – October 2021

National Hemorrhoid Day

Oct 19th is National Hemorrhoid Day! While the condition itself may not be something to celebrate, the fact that you can offer patients definitive relief is. As part of our new program, BandLeader, CRH has learned that over 65% of patients with symptomatic hemorrhoids have never heard of hemorrhoid banding.

More than 80% of these patients have already tried other remedies or procedures, including over-the-counter options, homeopathic cures and surgery. What this tells us is that many patients are suffering with their hemorrhoids, and they are willing to seek treatment. This is an opportunity to present those patients with an easy treatment option that can provide them long lasting relief, and bring in meaningful ancillary revenue at the same time. You can use our Patient Education materials to help spread awareness that you offer this treatment, whether it’s brochures in your waiting room, wall charts for the exam rooms or a pre-built Patient Questionnaire to screen for hemorrhoid symptoms on intake.

CRH may also be able to help you identify existing patients within your EMR who were diagnosed with hemorrhoids and are candidates for banding  – schedule a call with us to learn more about how this program could work for your practice.

2 Things to Keep in Mind This Time of Year

  • Deductibles paid down – Many patients have paid down their deductibles throughout the rest of this year, making this a great time for them to come in for hemorrhoid banding. Whether they are patients who were previously diagnosed with hemorrhoids and not treated, or they have received an initial banding but require a follow-up session, now is a great time to remind them that you offer hemorrhoid banding.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts Expire – Some insurance plans include a “Flexible Spending Account”, which allows the plan member to spend a certain amount on medical expenses throughout the year. However, similar to deductibles, most plans do not allow any unused amounts to carry forward, meaning that any money left in the account at the end of the year is forfeit. If your patients are enrolled in a plan with an FSA, hemorrhoid banding may be an easy and rewarding way for them to spend any remaining amounts before the end of the year.
